Latest announcement: Volunteers

Guys, I very much need testers who would be willing to test drive the new version. Here's a couple points:

1. You can have both versions on your machine. The new version can be installed in a different folder as your existing version. Thus there's no impact to your current games.
2. The new version can read previous version turnfiles, and the old version can read the new version turnfiles... with the exception of replay data. The new version replay mechanism is totally different. Thus while it would be best if you can hook up with an opponent who is also willing to test the new version, it's not required. Everything else is compatible between the two.

The bug fix and improvement list is too long to list. Please go to Codeplex to see what all it provides. Special thanks to Bryan Brinkman for drafting up the major power diplomacy data (the new version automatically calculates most DPs)!

Please let me know if you are interested and I will get the new version in your hands. Send me an email at christopher.goldfarb AT intel.com. Here's a list of just *some* fixes and improvements:

9246: Automatically place conversion DD chit in turntrack
1944: In some cases "Prev" phase button is not displayed
5584: 5 extra air appear in forcepool
4114: Allow email address change during game
5926: eNAS in Europe
3118: "Back a step" in replay
7450: Add unit "-----------"
3781: Ships at Sea displays nothing until a checkbox is clicked
1908: Hex control borders
6905: Information Marker text at screen bottom
3185: Invalid ObjRef during replay
5367: Send Turn crashes
3186: Error When I Click on any Counter

... And more - check Codeplex for the full list!

Just some additional item which don't directly map to Codeplex items (there are more, a full list is forthcoming):

- Automatic DP calculations. Major country diplomatic points are now automatically calculated. There are a few exceptions (such as BRP-based DPs) but these are clearly identified , so DP totals for YSS planning can be identified within seconds.

- Minor country diplo status. Support to track diplomatic results for minor countries is done, allowing users to track modifiers (although only though a text box to start with) and assign results, with the ability to select the major power who benefits. The details of the diplo results are displayed within the dialog for reference, and the actual effect is applied on the map.

- "Smart" diplomacy. Built into the diplo status capability above, business rules have been done to filter out impossible choices and make the selection process simpler. For instance, if France is conquered, France is removed from the major power list. Italy cannot gain hex control of the Philipines. Japan cannot conquer Ireland.

- Revamped replay system. You can get "at a glance" movement activity for units without having to step through each move; movement paths are color-coded based on phase unit moved in. New replay allows you to quickly move back and forth and see activity within a fraction of the time, and turnfile sizes do not increase over time (rather, local copies of turns are created as user moves through phases).

- More detailed phases. WP now has more granular phases providing more detail over what activity is happening when, while at the same time simplifying phase changing by adding a "jump" button which fast forwards through minor phase interactions to the next major phase. Make a mistake? Simply back up. New phase icon provides detailed information about each phase through a mouse click. Some examples of new phases include Sea Supply and Tactical Redeployments.
