Can I play Advanced Third Reich or Empire of the Rising Sun on WP?
Yes, you can. All the mechanics are essentially the same; there some minor differences to the map, and AWAW contains some units which aren't present in A3R. However WP ships with a number of scenarios, one of which is Advanced Third Reich, courtesy of Stephan Cochran. There is a short readme file in the scenarios folder which points out the changes in more detail. You can find more information on "The Classics" link on the lefthand navbar.

Why is this program free?
The answer to this will cost you money. So don't ask.

Can I play WP on Linux/Mac?
WP is built for Windows machines using the Microsoft .NET framework and DirectX technologies. As such there is no native support for either Mac or Linux operating systems. However, WP does run on Windows emulators on Apple, and there is a new tool called Boot Camp for Apple users which lets you run Windows (and Windows applications, of course) on your Intel-based Apple computer.

I'm not allowed to install programs on my work PC. How can I get WP to run?
First, shame on you. Second, I don't blame you. To get WP to run without using the installer, you can download the extracted program files here, and simply unzip the contents anywhere on your system. To run the program, click on the "WP2Startup.exe" program in the root folder. Note, your file associations won't work so your system won't recognize .war as turnfiles and .gam as scenarios; you'll have to open them manually or set up the association yourself. Finally, note you MUST have Microsoft .NET v2.0 installed.

Why should I use this instead of something else, which supports more boardgames?
We'll let you make that decision all by yourself.

I hear about people getting the automatic notification and installation of patches. I never get these. Why?
You are likely behind a firewall which prohibits WP from accessing the server to check for updates. You are also not able to use the integrated die roller. You can manually install the patch by downloading it directly. Join the mailing list to be kept up-to-date on patch releases and other activities.

I have a feature request/bug to report. Where can I do that?
I always recommend joining the mailing list, but the discussion forums are a great avenue as well.

What's next on the product roadmap?
The design team is brainstorming on possibilities and will be soliciting feedback for priorities shortly. We're always making incremental improvements but some teasers for big features include BRP automation, combat automation, naval mission simplification, rules checking, DP/RP automation, peer-to-peer "live" play, and others. Stay tuned.

My units are showing up as black squares on the map. What's going on?
WP uses DirectX hardware acceleration to improve performance. In some cases (at the higher zoom levels, in particular), this causes problems with screen rendering. If you experience this, simply right-click on your desktop and select Properties. Go to the Settings tab, click the Advanced button, go to the Troubleshoot tab, and reduce hardware acceleration until the problem is resolved.
